Arthur’s Life

Arthur Little was born in Bundarra and until his death was still loyal to this little town in the New England area of New South Wales.

Arthur’s wife, Ina, was also from Bundarra and they lived there in the early years of their marriage. They doted on their first daughter Jilly and never recovered from her death at two years of age in 1934. Arthur had a mail run and his wife and child were with him when the truck overturned and Jilly was killed. They moved to Leichardt with Ina’s sister and two brothers and began a Dry-cleaning Business at 161 Norton Street.

Terence Patrick Little, their son, was born in 1940 and became the apple of their eye.

Arthur’s home was there for all relations and anyone from Bundarra to stay while in Sydney and their generosity knew no bounds.

Arthur was my godfather and always treated me as his daughter, perhaps replacing Jilly in his eyes.

His business was very successful and he later moved on to a similar venture in Cronulla.

Arthur Patrick Little was an owner, trainer and gambler in the racehorse industry up until his death.

After giving everything to his son he came to live in Coonamble with his sister Ivy Waterford, whose family looked after him until his death.
